NYC SPECIAL INSPECTIONS
The New York City Department of Buildings (NYC DOB) requires Special Inspections be conducted for all construction projects as per 2008 NYC Building Code. Special Inspections ensure construction work considered critical to safety and property protection is conducted according to approved NYC Department of Building plans and specifications. Special Inspections must be conducted by a registered Special Inspection Agency (SIA) that is licensed and professionally insured for its actions. (A TR-1 sign-off can only be done by an SIA starting May 13, 2013)
